Questions

Why did a replay start at the beginning instead of just before liftoff?

Usually Launch Today hasn't found that recording's liftoff yet. It looks for liftoff in the background only while you're browsing, today's launches first, and only as far back as Settings allows (one week unless you change it). Some recordings have neither a readable countdown clock nor a clear view of ignition, and YouTube sometimes blocks the anonymous access the search needs; Launch Today tries again later. The search also needs Find launch start times while browsing turned on in Settings (it is on by default). In Playback choices, the T−15s and T−60s buttons appear once the liftoff time is known.

If it opened in the YouTube app, YouTube decides where it starts and may ignore the requested time, especially for a video you've watched before. Choose Launch Today in Playback choices for an exact start.

What does “Visual estimate” mean?

The recording had no countdown clock Launch Today could read, so it found the moment of ignition in the picture instead. That start is close, but not as exact as one taken from the mission clock.

A video won't play in Launch Today.

Launch Today plays videos straight from YouTube and X, without signing in, and those services sometimes refuse or change how they let videos be played. Hold the video (right-click on a Mac) and, in Playback choices, pick the YouTube row to watch it in the YouTube app (your web browser on a Mac). On iPhone, iPad and Mac, X broadcasts also get an X row when the X app is installed. Use YouTube in Settings is on by default, so YouTube videos normally open in YouTube when you have it.

Why is a launch filed under “Unconfirmed”?

The launch schedule only gives it a rough date so far, such as a week, a month or a quarter, or no date yet. It moves to the right day once an exact date is published.

How do I get back a channel I hid?

Open Settings (the gear at the top, next to Activity). Under Hidden channels, near the bottom, choose one to show it again.

Does Launch Today send notifications before a launch?

No. Open it any time: it starts on today's launches.

What is the Activity screen?

A log of what Launch Today is checking in the background. It's there if you're curious. If something looks wrong, copy the lines into an email (iPhone, iPad, Mac or Vision Pro), or send a photo of the screen from Apple TV.
